24/10/07 HCP Courts Successful on First Court Project

The Equitix Modern Courts / Downing Consortium was formally notified on 23 October that they had successfully pre-qualified through to Competitive Dialogue stage on the Liverpool Magistrates’ Courts PDS project.

This is a circa £60 million capex project to provide a site and build a new magistrates court building (14 courts) in the centre of Liverpool. The building is to be ready for occupation by Her Majesty’s Court Service (HMCS) by 2011.

HCP Courts has been appointed by the Equitix Modern Courts / Downing Consortium to lead the bid with Tony Jackson as Project Director.

The Equitix Modern Courts/Downing consortium comprises:

Equitix Ltd – who will provide equity funding. Equitix is backed by Cabot Square Capital who has in excess of £500m funds invested in private infrastructure projects; and

Downing Developments - the largest commercial property developer and landlord in Liverpool who will provide the new site for the courts;
Norwest Holst, part of the VINCI group, is the design & build contractor. Architects are Austin-Smith:Lord, financial advisor is Navigant Consulting and legal advisor is Norton Rose.

Liverpool Magistrates’ Courts is the first project in HMCS’s second phase of their court building programme. Other projects announced by the Ministry of Justice in this phase include Bolton & Salford magistrates’ courts, Birmingham magistrates’ courts, Aylesbury magistrates’ courts and Sunderland magistrates’ courts. HCP has outline agreement with Equitix Modern Courts to lead their bids on these projects.

An announcement by HMCS is expected by the end of the year detailing more future court projects which are expected to include Wolverhampton, West Bromwich, Gloucester and Essex.

30/07/07 The Innisfree/Skanska consortium has pre-qualified for the redevelopment of Southmead Hospital project for North Bristol NHS Trust.

HCP will be providing Health Planning, Clinical Advice and FM advice to the consortium and looks forward to working closely with all partners to develop an exciting and innovative clinical solution for the NHS and people of Bristol.

02/07/07 HCP to manage new Peterborough Hospitals PFI scheme

HCP is pleased to report that it has been appointed to manage the project company and provide construction supervision for the new Peterborough Hospitals PFI scheme which reached Financial Close on 29th June 2007.

The scheme, worth £335.6 million in core construction cost, comprises a new 612 bedded acute hospital on the Edith Cavell Hospital site, a 102 bedded Mental Health Unit and an Integrated Care Centre on the current Peterborough District Hospital site. These new facilities will replace existing facilities on both Peterborough Hospital Sites. Construction commences in July 2007 with completion due for late 2010.

This is the first time HCP will work with Macquarie and Multiplex who are the equity investors for the PFI scheme. Construction partners are Multiplex Construction and Hard FM services will be provided by Multiplex FM. Medirest, with whom HCP is now working on 4 PFI hospital schemes, are the Soft FM Services Provider and a managed equipment service will be provided by Asteral. The project company and its contractors will work in close partnership with the Peterborough Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, the Cambridge and Peterborough Mental Health Partnership Trust and the Peterborough Primary Care Trust.

01/06/07 St Helens - Topping Out Ceremony

A topping out ceremony was held successfully on Friday 1 June 2007 to mark the completion of the St Helens Hospital - Diagnostic Treatment Centre 26,000 m2 concrete frame , which forms part of one of the largest healthcare developments in the country.

The ceremony lead by Richard Miles - TWC Project Director was attended by approximately 500 members of the NewHospitals, NHS Trust, Supply Chain partners, TWC teams and invited guests. The placement of the 'final cube' of concrete was undertaken by Christine Brookes – Nursing Sister and Tony Tickle - Concrete worker.

Sue Brandreth the HCP General Manager of NewHospitals said ' A project of this size can only be achieved when all partners work together and when it works well you get what you see today. We have progressed from ground level to where we are today, in less than a year and you should all be very proud"

01/06/07 Website launch

HCP is pleased to announce its new website launch on 1 June 2007 to coincide with the launch of its new brand and logo. HCP has worked closely with brand consultants "Beyond Design Communication” to develop the new image and website to reflect HCP’s ten year’s of experience in the PPP / PFI sector.

Ian Whitehouse, HCP’s Chief Operating Officer said “It has been a joy to work with Beyond Design and we are very pleased with the new style and feel of our brand and associated website”.

15/05/07 HCP appointed by Laing Investment Management Services

HCP is pleased to announce that it has been appointed by Laing Investment Management Services to act as Project Director of its Triskellion Consortium to take the Leicester Hospitals project from Preferred Bidder stage to Financial Close.

Jane Imbush, HCP’s Project Director said “I regard the Leicester Hospital project as a rewarding and challenging task – its successful completion is important to the people of Leicester, its health economy, to Laing Investment and its consortium partners and of course the University Hospitals of Leicester. Along with my new colleagues I look forward to working on this project and bring it to a successful conclusion”

25/03/07 HCP Canada incorporated

HCP has established its first overseas entity in Toronto to support key clients in Canada develop bids and services for the PPP healthcare market.
