Alison Phillipson

Regional Director

Alison began her career after university at the Department of Health in 1974 where she worked on a range of policy issues including the configuration of postgraduate teaching hospitals. She then worked for the Muscular Dystrophy Group of Great Britain for three years, gaining valuable experience in fundraising and working with an enthusiastic national volunteer workforce, before joining the North East Thames Regional Health Authority in 1983. Alison has extensive general management and planning experience which includes experience at Board level within several NHS acute hospital Trusts. She also has particular expertise in project and interim management and in inter-agency service development. Her last NHS assignment before joining HCP in 1999 was lead responsibility for implementing Trust management arrangements for a £45million PFI project.

Since joining HCP in 1999, Alison has been responsible for mobilising, and seeing through to operational stage, three major UK PFI hospital projects: at Greenwich, Derby and most recently, at Peterborough (Financial Close, 7th July 2007, Mental Health and Primary Care Trust buildings opened on programme in 2008/9; Acute Hospital building on target for September 2010). Her role has encompassed the start-up/mobilisation of facilities management services, development of performance management regimes and ensuring that new hospital buildings are commissioned on time and on budget in accordance with complex project completion programmes. Alison is now a Regional Director with responsibility for overseeing HCP’s contracts in the East of England. Alison is also a member of HCP’s Executive Management Group.
