John Hunt
Regional Director
John joined HCP in early 2005 as a Project Director, leading the successful Healthcare PFI bid for the Walsall Manor Hospital at a capital value of £180 million. Also during this time he has advised clients on Asset Management including the estates strategies for their building portfolios.
He has also managed the SPV and operations of two Healthcare PFI projects, which has included the finalisation of complex benchmarking and capital development agreements.
John has had over 20 years experience of senior estates management roles working on multi million pound projects both latterly for the National Health Service and initially for central government and commercial companies. He has a unique insight into the project objectives of both the public and private sectors.
As Estates & Facilities Director, and also Project Director, for a large NHS acute trust, he has managed all aspects of estates, facilities and project management working with clinical teams and local commissioners to ensure the timely and cost efficient delivery of hospital support services and their buildings.
His initial training and qualification in construction cost and contract management provided a basis for his early career working on new and redevelopment projects for central and local government. His knowledge and experience was then developed further working with a major oil company, and then a supermarket retailer, both in the UK and across Europe, considering project management, estates strategies and business case preparation.
Before joining HCP his previous 10 years were in the Health Service with work both on PFI and major treasury funded projects. He has worked at senior manager and director level contributing to corporate and estates strategy and policy decision making at a time when trusts were rapidly developing through central government initiatives and changing service profiles.
John is a member of HCP’s Executive Management Group and has responsibility for the the company’s activities in the Central and West areas of the country.
