Louise Martin
Development and Regional Director
Louise joined HCP in 2002 as Project Director and is a member of the company’s Executive Management Group. Louise combines the roles of Regional Director for the Northern Region (including Scotland) and HCP’s Business Development Director. Her operational region includes healthcare, schools and courts projects. Louise also has wide experience of bidding PFI projects, acting as Project Director, in which she is responsible for coordinating the various consortium companies in bidding healthcare PFI schemes, negotiating the contractual arrangements to achieve financial close and maintaining a long-term interest in these projects through a presence on the Project Company Board.
Originally qualifying as an Orthoptist, before moving into general management, Louise worked in the National Health Service for fifteen years in a number of clinical and managerial posts. In the late 1980’s she also acted as the Chair of the staff side of the Joint Negotiation Committee in the then Chester Health Authority.
In 1998 Louise left the NHS to head the project company managing the delivery of a major first way PFI scheme at South Manchester University Hospitals Trust. In this role she was responsible for managing the investment company, including overseeing the construction of new healthcare facilities, the transfer of public sector staff to the private sector partner companies and the delivery of non-clinical support services to the Trust.
Louise is an active non-executive director of the Clatterbridge Centre for Oncology NHS Foundation Trust in Merseyside. Louise is the designated Trust Board ‘Design Champion’.
